Sweet Apple Practitioners

Hi There, I’m Heather Fixico

Thank you for visiting my site. Years ago, I was introduced to yoga from a gym class and thought it was cool but didn’t look further into it at that time. That was in 2003 …life just moved forward. In 2007 I was going through a lot of hard times: mentally, emotionally, and financially. I was overwhelmed, stressed out and was having anxiety attacks which left me unable to drive. A friend of mine took me to a local yoga studio and I took a class and felt a little better! It made me feel grounded and hopeful. I then took another class and felt better again! Maybe there is something to this yoga after all! Before long, my personal yoga practice fell into place, and I never looked back. In 2017, I took my yoga teacher training with Sacred Roots and became certified. My love for yoga and how it has helped me brings me here to opening my own space to share with others. Please feel free to drop in and check out our classes. We welcome students of all levels, especially those new to yoga.

Dawn Cushing

I have practiced yoga in some form for over 20 years. I first found yoga as a form of fitness. The practice quickly became so much more. As the asana (postures) practice has evolved over the years, so has the subtle practice. Balancing energy, meditation and breath are integral to finding the yin to my yang. I am a kinetic human and I like to DO. I love a sweaty, powerful yoga class. I hated yin the first time I practiced it, because I wanted to do all the chaturangas and handstands. With continued practice, Yin yoga took hold in my heart and has since helped me shape a more introspective and deeper practice. I had to slow down, stop doing and start being.

There must be balance. But it’s also really fun to learn cool poses. And laugh! Laughter is key. I am always learning (and re-learning) and adapting. There is always more to know, thus more to practice. See you on the mat!

Tori Muhl

I have been teaching yoga for over five years and enjoy teaching vinyasa flows and knitting with my cats. I teach various workshops and also work with a physical therapy clinic when I am not being a gremlin and tinkering in my studio.

Jillian

With over 20 years of experience as a nationally licensed massage therapist, Jillian knows how vital it is for body and energy to move with fluidity and harmony. She grew up dancing emphasizing in ballet and jazz, so movement, dancing, and stretching have always been part of her life. Since Jillian’s first yoga class in 2006, she felt a natural connection to the practice and in 2021 she completed her yoga teacher training. She is excited to share space with you along with what she has learned and continues to learn throughout her journey.

Cynthia Roy

I discovered yoga as exercise in 2010 through the P90X program and initially disliked it. However, in 2011, I walked into a yoga studio and fell in love with its transformative power. By 2014, I attended my first Vinyasa Yoga teacher training in Nicaragua, sparking a deep passion that led to certifications in Chair Yoga and Aerial Yoga. In 2015, I sought traditional roots in Rishikesh, India, completing advanced training. In 2017, I earned certification in UZIT (Urban Zen Integrative Therapy) at UCLA Hospital, which was a transformative experience. Over the past decade, I’ve embraced various styles, including Vinyasa, Chair Yoga, Meditation, and Restorative practices. My teaching philosophy is to offer yoga’s full spectrum to all levels, fostering healing through slow practices and breath awareness.

Sienna

Hi! My name is Sienna and I’m really looking forward to teaching at Sweet Apple! Yoga is something I rely on heavily for my physical, mental and emotional well being. I started my first teacher training two years ago and have continued to learn and grow with my practice. You can usually find me in a hot yoga class, outside soaking up the sun with my pup or cooking yummy food. I’m so grateful for yoga and cannot wait to share what I know and love with all of you!

Kimberly Jenkins

I have been practicing yoga off and on for 35 years. Seven years ago I retired from teaching elementary school. I went to Thailand for a wedding. After the experience I decided to become a yoga instructor in my retirement. I am now certified in Hatha, bahkti, trauma informed, and chair yoga. I’m also a Holy Fire III Reiki master. I spend my time with my five rescue dogs and my husband of 16 years. We own ktapothecary cbd company.

Sydney

Hello! I’m Sydney. I grew up in Omaha, Nebraska. I found yoga when I was 17 years old. In fact, when I took my first class I had never heard of yoga before. It didn’t take long for me to realize that yoga made my head and heart space feel better, it taught me that I can do hard things.

I completed my training in 2021 and I’ve been teaching yogis how to be curious ever since. I love to incorporate traditional yoga philosophy and history into our asana (movement) practice. Yoga can be so much more than exercise if you want it to be! So, I like to explore that. I teach vinyasa, hatha, and yin classes. In each of those areas, I like to workshop and have lots of room to play. Yoga is equal parts stillness and strength. In my classes you’ll have opportunities for meditation and mindfulness, with challenging but achievable poses for all levels of yogis. I like to think that our yoga practice in the studio creates space for us to better navigate the experiences of life that can be both heavy and complicated and teach us how to find lightness and ease within them at the same time.

Let’s make more room in life for good things. I look forward to seeing you on the mat!

Audrey

I was introduced to yoga in my late 20s as an overwhelmed young mom that spent the days working as a Preschool Teacher and Child Care Provider. I instantly fell in love with the feelings from being on my mat as the relaxation took over and I became a calm mom. I began to study the yoga lifestyle for myself and my children incorporating the teachings into motherhood. This is when I began to realize living life with purpose is about teaching yoga, to the whole family, with the whole body, mind and spirit.

I completed my 200-hour certification in 2009 with the White Lotus Yoga Foundation from Santa Barbara, California.  Since then, I have completed additional certification programs including: Yoga For The Special Child, Radiant Child Yoga, and Trauma-Informed Yoga with Firefly International. Further, my continuing education includes Yin, Yoga Trapeze and Stand Up Paddle Board (SUP) Yoga. I have a passion for being a student and have completed several other Anatomy and Energy Healing training.

The approach to my classes are lighthearted and mellow with building strength without struggle. I am most likely to be found with my legs up the wall in Savasana or kicking myself around into handstands. I look forward to meeting you on your mat, in your chair, or on the beach practicing with me building connection and community.
